The new brand and visual identity of Nymburk tells the story of the town, its landscape, and its people. By modifying the upper serif of the letter N, we created an easily memorable graphic shortcut that was inspired by the historic town fortifications, while the serifs also allude to another landmark – the Church of St. Giles – a unique example of brick Gothic architecture. However, history was not the only starting point for the new visual identity. Functionalist architecture, civic amenities, the natural beauty of the Polabí lowlands, the poetry of writer Bohumil Hrabal, and sports activities are all themes represented by a set of pictograms. By combining these with the letter N, we narrate a story of architecture, history, sport, art, and landscape. The work on the visual identity was carried out in a very friendly spirit – the extraordinary energy of the town council to create a contemporary and modern communication is refreshing. The town of Nymburk is definitely a place worth visiting.
