Restoring Identity
Exhibition and book design
for UPM Prague

Exhibition project marking the 80th anniversary of the introduction of the Nuremberg Laws in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, organised by the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague in collaboration with the Centre for Documentation of Property Transfers of Cultural Assets of WWII Victims. Alongside the exhibition, an extensive catalogue was published, documenting the fates of a hundred victims of a system that systematically destroyed individual human lives and expropriated their property. The exhibition and catalogue present approximately 270 artefacts from the collections of the Museum of Decorative Arts, the National Heritage Institute’s Sychrov castle division, and the National Gallery Prague. The aim of the curators was to return names to the original owners of cultural objects — names that, from autumn 1941 onward, lost their meaning and were gradually replaced by transport numbers. These numbers and the inventory codes of storage records became a key visual element for the exhibition and its accompanying publication.
